Last Thursday we were given our new project entitled 'Make Nothing'
I started experimenting using straws, mirrors, glass, textiles and broken bits of coloured and textured perspex.

The project is based on using light to create an object/form rather than materials.

A lot of my experimentation links to the painted photographs produced by artist Kim Weston. I found her linear silhouettes to be highly inspiration and attempted by own variations, adding colour and interest using coloured plastics and glass filled with water. Some of my experimentations are visible below.
From this I want to start looking at different methods of dying and printing fabrics to see if I can get similar effects on textiles. I remember watching Victorian Farm and seeing a Victorian method of marbling paper that used to be used for wrapping paper and book covers so might try and attempt that...or possibly revert back to good old nostalgia and use dyes in soapy water and bubble it up like we used to do in preschool to get the print...oh the possibilities!
